Metropolitan Ministries

Metropolitan Ministries is Chattanooga's Financial Emergency Room.

Our mission is to help prevent homelessness in the greater Chattanooga area. Those who come to Metropolitan Ministries seek help with basic needs such as rent and utility payments and food. Metropolitan Ministries staff and volunteers receive with dignity and respect all who come by providing them the emotional and physical help needed.

In 2009, volunteers logged over 6,000 hours, saving Metropolitan Ministries over $100,000 in personnel costs.

In 2009, Metropolitan Ministries prevented 7,817 of your neighbors from becoming homeless, at a cost of nearly $300,000.

Nearly 40% of the clients served in 2009 have never before asked for help.

Clients leave The Garcia Center with extra supports that can help them avoid the ongoing threat of impending homelessness.
